Financial management is an introductory course in corporate finance. The course is aimed to develop students’ fundamental knowledge and skills in making financial decisions. With a core purpose of building a solid foundation for making financial decisions, the course will develop the basic knowledge of the functions of different financial markets and institutions, time value of money, discounted cash flows, financial performance evaluation, valuations of bonds, stocks, and assets, capital budgeting and working capital management. In a broader context, the course will make students familiarised with the essential financial management tools to get aids for the understanding, assessing and solving financial managers’ problems. The undertaking of this course will result in positive outputs in terms of covering the basic building blocks of financial management. Therefore, the course considers creating values for the students through developing essential and transferable skills to succeed as a financial manager.
