About This Course

This course is designed to introduce the students of the program to the fundamentals of Production and Operations Management. As the global market competition increases, increases the need for better management of the modern production and operations system that can provide quality products with reasonable prices to their target markets. This course addresses various functional areas of Production and Operations, and would facilitate students with the tools/techniques used in making operations management decisions. The course covers topics and issues in operations management such as introduction to operations management, forecasting, capacity planning, inventory management, process selection and facility layout, project management, statistical quality control techniques and six sigma approaches, distribution management, the role of transportation system in logistics, and introduction to supply chain management. There will be lectures, quizzes, case studies, independent and group assignments and team project.
